Concrete provides a strong durable foundation for rammed earth. It may also be used in lieu of poured earth for lintels and wall caps. It may be pigmented to match or contrast the rammed earth or left to its natural gray color.
It is also wonderful to polish concrete to reveal the aggregate contained within for hearths and counter tops. We have been exploring the possibilities with natural aggregates troweled into the pour.
